The original water supply system of Digos was constructed in 1965 by the now defunct National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA), which operated and managed the system until 1980. On July 10, 1980, the Sangguniang Bayan of Digos passed Res. No. 76 creating Digos Water District (DWD). With its formation, DWD took over the ownership and management of the water supply system in accordance with PD 198 as amended.
